Peacefully Quiet, with great Power!! : Honda Eu 3000 Is
I picked up this generator after a blackout left us powerless for some days a consolidate years ago. Being in the midwest, this was a very new caress for us. The timing could not have been worse from a personal, and professional point of view. There were a whole of other generaors in the neighborhood - to my eyes big crude things. A steel frame with an engine, gas tank, etcetera bolted on. I could hear them screaming away halfway down the block. I also did not want that. Since part of the impact was to be able to run some electronics for work and education, I also needed a clean power output.
I placed on the honda after a bit of research. Bought it at local dealer. We have had it 2 years. Used it a few times - mostly for a few hours at a time. I just completed a 4 day outage due to a local tornado, which prompted me to write this review.
This ran for 4 days, driving a refrigerator, freezer, sump pump, a consolidate of lamps and some small electonics. I only tunred it off to refill it - a consolidate times a day. I probably could have gotten by less often than that, but did not want it to run out when I was not home to assist.
It made the whole experience, while decidedly annoying, entirely bearable.
It wheels nearby easily. It is quiet (the load I chronicle above was small enough/intermittent enough that it was idling much of the time). From inside the house, you were not aware it was running - and the windows were open. While commiserating with some of my neighbors (you do alot of that when the power was out) they were very suprised when I told them we had (and were running) a generator - indicating they did not hear it at all.
It is entirely enclosed and professional looking. I advise the wheel kit - it too heavy for one man to move nearby without it easily.
I have choosen not to wire it into the house, but purchased a whole of very heavy gage (important!), very high capability prolongation cords, and pre-planned how I would route them for desired effect.
It has always started for me. I run an ounce or so of gas through it every month or two just to keep things ready. Even in the middle of winter it starts right up.
My wife is entirely comfortable starting and stopping this, if she needs to leave the house. We have decided never to run it if there is no-one home.,
While it is not inexpensive, I am completely satisfied with the product.
